After lunch we toured the hospital. We were shocked at the conditions. There were starch babies that were real fat and malnourished babies. Another baby was getting breathing treatments. There was a hyperbaric chamber that was donated by the US in 2008.
The filing system at the hospital was in sections of the alphabet but not alphabetical. So many people have multiple files. Then we went to the prison and distributed shoes and shirts from Texas to 70 prisoners including six Women. There are 12 men per tiny room. We just walked around and visited. They only get one meal a day a tortilla, rice and beans in the morning. Their spouses can pay to stay in jail with them. They stay in the room with all the people. It’s very weird.
The medical team handed out antibiotics, ibuprofen and treated all of them for parasites.
It’s impossible to describe the conditions in the hospital and prison.
Then we went to the pier to see some of the shipments coming in.
The weather is beautiful here at least two showers a day to stay cool. Feeling sorry for everyone with cold and snow.
